A Hoax Of A Hoax?

by Patrick on January 21, 2008

So last night I saw The Hoax. Which was a movie based on Clifford Irving, an author who pulled one over the eyes of McGraw-Hill and Time magazine by managing to publish a fake “authorized” biography on Howard Hughes. It was a really interesting movie- of course like all movies based on “actual events”, I’m sure that Hollywood took their liberties and added a couple of details that really didn’t happen (even though a few did- secrets in the book motivated Nixon to break into the DNC offices at Watergate.)

After watching the movie I’m now more interested in this famous rich Texan- I think The Aviator will be my next film to watch.

Well after checking out Irving’s website- he himself denounced how Hollywood treated his story of pulling the hoax. In fact he calls the movie- a hoax of a hoax.

So I have a liar accusing people that make works of fiction that they made up things in showing the way he lied to others.

I really don’t know who to believe but it was an interesting movie nonetheless.
