The Keystone State

I love to drive.

It’s the only explanation of why after driving hundreds of miles (at the cost of my car) I decide to go on another road trip (to Hershey, PA) only a week after getting back from the beach.

But really Hersheypark was something I couldn’t miss. Like the annual beach trip, the annual Hersheypark trip is just another great time with friends that happens every Summer.

fahrenheit02The park had a brand new coaster called Fahrenheit, which boasts the “steepest drop” in the United States. It was pretty cool when I tried it but I don’t think it was anything too special. I still enjoy Storm Runner and the ever popular, Lightning Racer.

It amazes me how many roller coasters there are around the world and how advanced they have gotten. Storm Runner goes about 75 mph but it’s nowhere near the fastest coaster (that honor is reserved for Kingda Ka at Six Flags.) There’s a whole roller coaster database where you can crunch the stats and see for yourself.

After spending the day at the park we all headed back to Harrisburg and crashed at a local motel. We then walked across the street to Gillian’s to celebrate Falkor’s birthday.

Now after living two years in the Washington, DC area I’m used to drink prices way higher than then prices I paid at the local college bar. I got to revisit those days when I walked inside and was greeted by signs advertising the wonderful prices for drafts and rail drinks.

We all filled up a corner booth and just went round for round like there was no tomorrow. The bill at the end was pretty hefty but it was nowhere what it would of been if we had done the same thing in DC.

The next day I got to experience Bob Evans for the first time- their biscuits are pretty good but I don’t understand why people love eating them with gravy. I also don’t understand why people just love drinking the gravy alone.

Another weekend through and another road trip done but nowhere near finished- I got a few more to go this summer.
