Weddings And Dates

I feel all alone now.

With Jimmy’s wedding this past weekend yet another one of my friends was getting hitched. This was the first of many weddings I will be attending this year. I was happy that I would be there with my pal David and some old friends showed up as well- but with everyone getting married you can not help but to feel a little lonely.

The trip up started great- I flew in on Thursday and I was psyched to see that I was going to be driving around in style- inside a new Pontiac G8.

I also wanted to make sure I had the complete package to go with the car: I had a new suit for the wedding and I have been shaping up so I would walk in knowing I was in prime condition.

Friday meant trying to catch up with as many pals as I could fit in. I had lunch with David at On The Border- a local Mexican place I have never actually been to growing up. Afterward we went shopping in the mall. It is always great to catch up with old friends. That night I went out with Mike to see the movie du jour: The Dark Knight. I thought that Heath Ledger did a great job as The Joker and might get the Oscar nod- I think he deserves the nomination but may win it posthumously because of his tragic death (Maggie thinks so.)

On a separate note, Maggie Gyllenhaal is really hot.

I got up early on Saturday to have breakfast with Patrick- it seems that everytime we catch up he is on yet another life adventure.

Jimmy’s wedding that night was great- as always I couldn’t help myself from imagining how my wedding would be- that can not be normal for a guy. The ceremony took place at St. Mary’s in Chelmsford. The reception was at the Andover Country Club- home to various other wedding receptions I’ve been to as well as my high school senior banquet. The open bar at cocktail hour was great except that they wouldn’t serve shots- so the Chelmsford group had to chug entire glasses of Soco and Lime. Yes we are that classy.

dsc00770aAfter the reception I made an impulse move- I bolted to the North End and surprised Alyssa at her birthday night out a Goody Glovers. I saw wonderful faces and Alyssa welcomed me with a provocative photo shoot. I crashed at Bill’s place afterwards.

Sunday would not be a day of rest for me. I had to work on Newbury Street where it was stick and hot- then later it was pouring rain and I got soaked.

All in all it was a good weekend back home. I am looking forward to more trips home this year but for now I need a break from my trip.
