Information Overload

The Internet is a series of tubes.

This infamous statement was used by Senator Ted Stevens (now indicted for some shady renovations) was remixed into a really catchy video on YouTube. I channel the Senator’s statement because I feel that like he did when talking about Net Neutrality, a little overwhelmed with information.

ipod-touch1I upgraded my iPod touch this weekend and I’m excited about all the great new apps I have access to. At the same time I had to step back and realize how connected I’ve just made myself.

I have a laptop and a desktop at home, as well as a laptop at work. I also use a Smart phone and an iPod that does more than play music. Using a computer, phone, or iPod I now have three ways to:

  • Surf the web
  • Check e-mail
  • Surf Facebook or MySpace
  • Chat on AOL Instant Messenger
  • Read the my many feeds on Google Reader
  • Get directions on Google Maps
  • Anything else Google

It’s a little daunting when I think about it. However I am usually not in a situation where I have to choose between the three. Obviously I am going to use a desktop or laptop when available and my iPod only works in hot spots while my Smart phone works anywhere. It’s just interesting to think about integration of technology sometimes. It makes the refrigerator that can surf the net less ridiculous and more futuristic.

Ok on to the recap:

maeyoungMonday I indulged my white trash side and went to WWE Raw at the Verizon Center. I took Rebecca who is a big wreslting fan. The event was more of the same- ridiculous over-the-top fighting mixed in with melodrama between the wrestlers. I was grossed out to see Mae Young, and 85 year old wrestler, come out to host the “kiss cam” and then proceeded to make out and roll around with a referee.

Thursday I went to the Phillies/Nationals game with Wendi and we enjoyed owning the Suite, however the real highlight of the week had to be Friday’s trip to Baltimore.

Howl At The Moon is becoming a real favorite of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. A dueling Piano bar, I first discovered the place when friends took me there for my 23rd birthday. I had a great time tjello_shotshen and I knew I was going to have a great time when we all decided to go up there for Sarah’s 25th birthday. I arrived up there late thanks to the DC traffic and I was left with only half an hour of discounted drinks. So to say I also had a lot of catching up to do. Never a problem with me. Once again I enjoyed buckets of booze, jello shooters delivered by beautiful waitresses, and seeing my friends embarass themselves on stage. It was a great night and I managed to survive the night. I have to recomend Howl At The Moon to anyone looking for a great show.

Til’ then just remember- if you are going to grab a Taxi, don’t decide to walk back to where you started.
