When life around you is a mess at least there’s a place you can call home.
Coming back from Thanksgiving has seen work getting more and more busy when it was expected to get quieter to quieter. I’ve been certainly putting in the hours during the week and on the weekends. As hectic as it has been there have been some fun moments, I got to spend a couple of mornings on Capital Hill for some press conferences. Being in the middle of cameras and reporters is a really intense moment.
Right now as ridiculous work has been for the past six months, I’m trying my best to manage the stress and really finding closure with my home life has really helped. My new roommate Caroline has moved in and has been the roommate Sarah and I have been looking for- I think she’s going to be a great new member of the house, which I am already loving since the day I moved in.
I also managed to get some outstanding issues resolved this week; finally found a table and got the rest of my computers set up. I am now rocking 3 PCs in my bedroom and have officially decalred myself a geek with that statement. I have so much WiFi going in and out of my room I will probably die of radiation- or maybe I’ll develop some sweet super powers.
Trips to Home Depot and Bed, Bath, and Beyond were made. Yes I said Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I have now lost my manhood as well as my coolness with this post. But to the very least I think I am fully moved in and ready to get on with my personal life.
Part of the personal life involved the Lakers/Wizards game with Carrie on Friday. I walked into the Verizon Center thinking that it was going to be a blowout on the part of the Lakers. Amazingly the Wizards came back from behind and were a missed shot from tying the game. Keeping up with the Lakers deserves some credit but it’s performances like that loss that will define their season this year- just disappointing.
After the game Carrie and I did the “downtown loop” where I introduced her to the downtown scene. We met an interesting group of ladies at Mackey’s- but that’s a story I’m going to save for Metblogs later.
This week will be another busy week at work but looking forward to some exciting events that I’ll certainly be writing about later. It’s good to feel at home, now I just need to get some quality time with my friends.
