Countdown To OBX Season 3

by Patrick on May 8, 2009

14 Days.

That’s two weeks.

Two weeks before I get the hell out of the district and go on the one vacation I look forward to every year. The OBX.

If you haven’t heard me talk about it before, it’s the annual tradition I’ve grown to love. A great bunch of friends and I pack our things and rent a house on Hatteras Island. I then spend a week relaxing, tanning, swimming, and just having a great time.

Every year I take some home video and I attempt to make cool videos afterwards. This is the teaser for, “The OBX Season 2″ (My 2008 trip.)

This year I’ll be doing more of the same but I am already thinking of ways to make it more interesting and better than ever before.

I also got some ideas of things I want to accomplish while I’m down there, sure I’m on vacation but I can still have some goals to accomplish with that free time:

  • I have a stack of magazines I’ve been waiting to tackle, laying on the beach is a perfect way to do that.
  • Three books I want to read while on the beach: Stage Management by Thomas Kelly, How to Work a Room by Susan RoAne, and I just thought the other day that I should add Brazen Careerist: The New Rules for Success by my favorite cougar career blogger, Penelope Trunk.
  • Last year I made a piss poor attempt to learn to make Mojitos. This year I’m going to learn. What other drinks should I learn to make?

Writing this post makes me wish I was on the beach already!

So lucky! I have 71 days until my “beach week”. Only this is with my family. It’s awesome. We get a house on the beach in South Nags Head. Easy access to waves, sand, bathroom and beverages :) Hope the next 14 days go quickly for you!

We made some pretty lame mojitos last week. We had freshly picked mint and still failed.

    Hey Patrick..

Maybe I should write a new chapter… How To Work a Beach! Thanks so much for the nice mention of my book.
    Best, Susan

f.B: I bought fresh mint the night before I went to the beach and I tossed it into the cooler… and the ice melted and the mint was completely soaked.

    Mojito fail.

MeggiePoo: I actually want to have a productive two weeks so let’s hope I get lots done before the beach!
