In 2002 I followed The Dave Matthews Band around New England over five days where I saw three shows (two in person, one online) in what I dubbed, “DMB Week.” Last year I spent back-to-back weekends going to DMB shows in New York and Virginia.
It’ll probably be awhile til I can afford to spent an extended amount of time following the band but none the less I’m happy to celebrate a DMB week once again.
The band’s new album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, drops today and if I’m lucky I’ll get my pre-ordered copy today and I can enjoy listening to the album after my happy hour with Rebecca.
The band is pulling out all the stops in celebrating the release of the new album, Sunday morning the band kicked things off with a story on CBS Sunday Morning.
Other happening going on this week:
- Yesterday the band performed a concert at The Beacon Theatre that was streamed on Hulu and shown on Fuse TV. LJ came over and we enjoyed the show.
- Fuse TV is also airing a documentary called The Road to Big Whiskey, it’s a four part series airing this week.
- Sirius radio will be dedicating an entire channel to DMB all week long. The channel will play songs, concerts, and interviews.
- I’m trying to resist, but Pandora radio is streaming the entire album ahead of the release.
- On Friday DMB will be performing live on the Today Show. I tried to get fan passes to 30 Rock but luck wasn’t on my side.
- Tomorrow night DMB will be on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
- Dave Matthews is also scheduled to appear on Charlie Rose, a show where he’s been featured a few of times already.
- iTunes also recently release a DMB version of the popular Tip Tap Revenge game.
I’m very excited to have DMB on the mind throughout the week, however I don’t even know when I’ll be able to see them on tour this summer! My sister’s engagement party is going to be on the same weekend I originally wanted to see the band in Bristow, so now I gotta find another date this summer to see the band- any suggestions where I should travel?
