The trick: get an extra pony-keg. That way you can a) extend the life of your party or b) drink while doing cleanup/hair of the dog the following day. Our house had no a/c and summer parties meant getting the kiddie pool filled up in the back yard so we could all stand in it drinking our margaritas!
