Remember back in April when everybody was talking about Swine Flu? We all thought that it was the end of the world and that hell was freezing over. I even wrote earlier that we should stop worrying about the Swine Flu. Well a couple months go by and now the Swine Flu is still around but it isn’t as bad as we thought it would be.
Which is great because I got this hum dinger of an e-mail at work today:
Subject: Office Alert
Many of you are aware that #####’s son contracted swine flu late last week. On Friday, ##### also began experiencing symptom’s and after visiting a doctor was also diagnosed with the H1N1 virus…
Fantastic.
This person (who’s name will be withheld to protect the swine flu stricken) happens to be the same person who just spent two weeks working to fix the laptop I type this post on.
Am I worried? Not too much, however I can’t wait to get the flu if it means I can stay home for a week and watch The Price Is Right! In fact I should start buying ice cream in anticipation for the time off.
Of course if I’m next them there’s probably the off chance I die. In which case somebody better take over this blog and take care of my online life.
While I’m not too worried I will say this: why now? Swine Flu is so April 2009. It’s July people! Why couldn’t our office get it when it was cool and scary, now it’s dismissive and not really a big deal.
It’s kind of like when you get what’s was hot for Christmas in 2007… on Christmas 2009.
But then again it makes sense that we got Swine Flu now, it took us forever to get new computers, maybe the office outbreak was stuck cutting through the office bureaucracy.
