Chris Brown Is Really Really Sorry

by Patrick on July 22, 2009

Yesterday I spied Elizabethany’s post on Chris Brown’s apology to the public that he released this past Monday:

If you don’t know why he’s apologizing you can see why over here. It’s clear that he’s reading a prepared statement, so I’m personally on the fence if he’s sincerely sorry or not. I also had some other thoughts while watching it:

  • “My attorney has advised me not to speak out…” until we write something for you to read. Considering it’s July and the event happened in February, what took so long? Right when the event had cooled off this apology is sure to bring it back to the forefront.
  • “I accept full responsibility…” always a good move, it’s not an apology unless you accept full responsibility.
  • “I tried to live my life in a way that makes those around proud of me- and until recently I thought I was doing a pretty good job.” This line strikes me because it sounds like it’s something he wrote himself- no fancy PR speak here.
  • “I can only ax ask and hope that you forgive me please.” Right after this line there is a about a 4 frame dissolve, looks like they had to cut down for time? Wonder what else he said…
  • “…so that I’m truly worth the word, “Role Model.” Do you consider the guy that made this video a role model? I hope my kid learns how to hang out with T-Pain and stare at booty!

What do you think?

I hope this guy gets his ass kicked and throat punched. What kind of a “man” hit a woman. Totally weak. Good on you for pointing out his non-sense.

Michael Jackson was (possibly) a child molester and people still worshiped him. I don’t listen to people’s music because of their actions…I’d have no one to listen to if I judged the person behind it.

Gotta admit, since Chris Brown never actually denied anything and actually plead guilty (i.e., admitted at least something), I’ve just kept skipping his tracks in iTunes.

I think this is definitely a case of too little, too late. He finally realized that no one wants to listen to a woman beater’s music. I don’t really believe that this is a sincere apology at all.

JustJP: I agree- it makes me feel sad though that he comes from a troubled past.

Maxie: It’s a really weird thing that happened to Michael Jackson- he died and we forgot the last 15 so years and just decided he was a good musician.

f.B: Yea he owned up to it now the judgement he gets is from us instead.

Meg: He has a new album dropping in December just so you know…

I agree with what Maxie said. I don’t listen to any particular artist or band for who they are or what they do in their personal life, I listen to their music because I like their music.

And that’s why I’ll still listen to the occasional Chris Brown stuff- in the end it’s just so catchy!

He’s ridiculous. There’s no excuse for what he did and his apology is too little, too late.

I think time will tell if he’s still got it.
