The Single Life: All The Single Ladies Put Your Hand Up
Because believe it or not there’s not a whole lot of single ladies out there. Despite what was discussed between my blogger pals last Thursday, where we talked about the glut of single ladies compared to single males (a common theory), I found a map project a while ago that proves that I maybe looking for love in all the wrong places. Jonathan Soma made a geographic map of singles that you can interact with to find out how many single woman/man ratio there is in a given city. After adjusting the graph it looks like us guys outnumber single women 27 to 1. I don’t like those odds. Mind you Soma does point out that there’s some issues with the map including how it counts homosexuals couples as single since they are not married, but none the less I’ll remain pretty negative on my chances of ever finding a date again. Now that I know I have to fight 20 guys for a girl, I’m going to go and wonder why I’m undatable again. Related posts: 18 comments to The Single Life: All The Single Ladies Put Your Hand Up |

I never knew my love for maps would make me sad and frustrated as well. Oh well, atleast we now know where to move to improve our chances.

You’ll be cool. There may be more dudes in this metro area, but I’ve heard a lot of reporting that approx 97% of them are douches. So maybe you have to fight 19 douches, but that’s not even a challenge.

Hmmmm…maybe the stats are right and maybe not. The only single people I’ve met in my area are either divorced with at least one child or have terrible personal hygiene. But most of the people I meet, I meet through coworkers or in bars. I’m working on expanding my horizons.

Michael: Ya I thought you’d be happy I wrote a post on maps.
Lemmonex, LiLu & ajw93: I wonder if it’s perceptual, I really don’t trust this map too much but it looks so pretty with the colors and circles…
Meghan: She’s totally not in a bar, I don’t know where she is. Thanks so much for the redesign love, I really like how it’s simple and does what I want it to. I’m not dead yet. Neither is Mal, but I’m totally dying first.
f.B: You make a great point, has anybody came up with a map that factors in the d-bags?
Katie: I have to work on expanding my horizons too- know any ladies in C-town?
The Northerner: Well the ladies above seem to disagree, I think the map is a real interesting conversation piece- like a good coffee table.

I’m pretty much in the same boat. Unfortunately it seems as if we’re competition so, how about a quick knife fight or a duel? (Extra points if we get to use lightsabers but that would go a long way in explaining why I’m single, wouldn’t it?)

I don’t feel bad for you. There are zero single men ages 21-30 with an iq over 120 (i’m trying to be open minded here, come on)in my town.
ZERO.
cry me a river.

Being single can be an interesting experience. Just because there’s single people around doesn’t mean it’s any easier. I live outside of an area teeming with them and its all the same.

I guess I will had my two cents in this discussion. The single life can be interesting. A single person can learn a thing or two from those who are not single and going through the good times in life and the bad and even worse situations a person can not imagine happening to them.

Lauren: I’ve been single for 25 years- it’s certainly been an interesting experience. Do you live outside NYC?
Kelvin: It’s always great to be able to learn from others before you experience things for yourself. As the oldest in my family I don’t get a lot of those chances.
