I Still Have A Piece Of Shit Car

by Patrick on August 5, 2009

IMG00088I have written a lot of things about my car. People love it for it’s ghetto wheel covers and personalized plates. If you also notice my car gets around- there are tons of other little Corollas around here that look just like mine.

I’ve also put up with a lot of problems, including a fender bender that left me without a car for weeks.

Well looks like I got another problem: the driver’s side door handle broke.

I guess working out at the gym has paid off.

However I now have to roll down the window and open my door from the outside- how ghetto/embarrassing is that!?!

I am also convinced that anytime you cannot lock or open your car’s door is a telltale sign your car has reached a new low.

Yesterday I ordered a new handle and hopefully I’ll be able to install it myself next week.

Til then be sure to laugh anytime you see me around town, reaching over the window to open my door.

I put my initials on my car, so I can always find it! The VA DMV makes it very easy to personalize…I remember choosing my plate one day while bored at work; a fellow cube-dweller talked me into it. There are *numerous* dings and scratches on it too, from when I lived in the S.Arl. apt complex with too-small parking spaces. Once, while leaving the liquor store in Old Town (!), a man rolled down his window and shouted, “I work at Alexandria Hyundai…we can take care of those dings and scratches for you!”

Ya my car has lots of dings and scratches on it too, but I swear it’s from the previous owner.

I love my car, but it’s pretty ghetto too. The emergency brake doesn’t even work anymore.

This awesome guy I work with has this problem too. I don’t remember exactly how it goes, but he has to stick a key or something under the handle while he tries to force open the door or something. But he’s still pretty awesome so it’s ok.

I’m glad the car doesn’t make one awesome. I really hope to get it fixed soon.

LOL-reminds me when I use to drive a hooptie. 4 keys-1 to open the car door, another one to start the car, another one to open the trunk and finally another one to open the passenger door.

Wait- what kind of car is this?

Hey you got a fast car.

I love my Corolla. I did this to my car:

    http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a350/majsowle/rl%20pictures/jump%20start%20FAIL/100_0250.jpg

I call it my Jump Start FAIL. I set it on fire. Oops.
The scorch marks are still there. I’m so proud of it. People are always like ‘looks like you got in a fight with a dragon!’ and I’m always like ‘actually the real story is MORE interesting!’

This is what happens when you get the jumper cables mixed up? Holy shit!

          What? I hope there’s a story with this…

Maybe I’m dating myself, but why don’t you just paint it orange, weld the door shut and leave the window down all the time? I’m sure you could pass a Corolla as the General Lee…right? Oh, and you’d need to install one of those musical horns that plays Dixie everytime you honk.

Interesting idea but I think I’d get stuck in the window.
