What Is Brazen Careerist And Why You Need To Get On It

by Patrick on August 26, 2009

Profile-Ideas-Resume-SSEarlier this year, Brazen Careerist was unknown to me but a dream target for my friend Lillian; who hoped that her project, Millennial Voices,  could gain some attention as a featured blog on the site.  I checked out the site and the best way to describe it is through a recent tweet that stated it as, “Twitter meets Facebook meets LinkedIn meets Gen Y.”

What makes Brazen Careerist different than other other social networking/career sites is its focus on members of Generation Y- which I am a proud member of. While most career sites is a regurgitation of tools to post your resume and search for jobs, Brazen Careerist is more of a forum of ideas, experiences, and voices. Like a LinkedIn or Monster you can list all your professional details and information, but what really makes the site special is its focus on blogs and bloggers that write on all sorts of topics relative to Gen-Y, social networking, and careers.

The community of like-minded “Brazen Careerists” is the site’s strongest point. I’ve enjoyed discovering bloggers and reading posts about jobs, Twitter, and The Quarter-Life Crisis; and just realizing that you’re not alone as you navigate through your young professional lives.

Brazen Careerist wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the bold thinking of Penelope Trunk; discovering the site led to her blog, which led to the discovery of her ideas which I’ve enjoyed reading, which resulted in perhaps my first blog crush.

Six months later I’ve been honored to have written a few posts that have been featured on the site (with a random one being featured today.) I’ve also been lucky to have exchanged words with the people behind the site (maybe one day I’ll meet the blogger of my dreams.)

So on this, the day after Brazen’s redesign, I invite everyone out there to check it out and get on the ground floor of what I think is an emerging resource for Generation-Y.

And if you happen to run across, Ryan, Ryan, or Penelope- tell them I say Hi!
