Fantasy Football: Ashton Kutcher: Prankster, Actor, and Fantasy Football Guru

ashtonLike everybody else on Twitter, we probably are following actor and cougar champion Ashton Kutcher. Well I noticed a tweet from him last week plugging his fantasy football show on U-Stream.

It’s interesting how a guy that started as model and moved on to TV, has sinced become a prankster, film star, and is now a fantasy football expert. If anything he’s good at reinventing himself.

I tuned into one of his most recent shows and the show is unrehearsed chatter between him and two of his friends, one of which looks like a chef for the Dallas Cowboys. They go over match-ups and questions while shuffling papers about and referring to charts and stats from their laptops.

While it’s an interesting show, my question is- would you consider Ashton a real fantasy football expert? Fantasy Football is a widely popular hobby and it’s no surprise he’s as passionate about it as the next person (or me for that matter) but would you consider his advice against other analysts that do it for a living?

Here’s the latest on my fantasy football leagues:

4 Sport Boston League

Donte’s 17 Games Off (0-1)

Eagles Panthers Football

Well at least he scored me 3 TDs before going down...

Well Craig predicted a close match and it was close, however I lost to my opponent by five points. It could of been worse, I went into Monday night with a nice lead but my opponent still had Tom Brady left to go- and you never dismiss Tom Brady.

Who did it for me last week: Donovan McNabb, thanks for the 3 TDs! I knew you still had it in you!

Who let me down last week: Donovan McNabb, thanks for breaking your ribs scoring all those touchdowns- I knew you were an injury risk! I don’t care if I live in DC, I already hate owning Santana Moss.

How am I feeling this weekend: It looks like another close match that could go either way. Since McRib is going to be out I made the move to add Joe Flacco to take over as my QB. He looked up last week going up against KC (307 yds/3 TDs) and he won’t be too bad against San Diego.

DC-Boston League

Beltway Bandits (1-0)

Bills Patriots Football

If you can dodge the Patriots, I hope the Bucs won't be a problem.

Tony Romo does it again with 37 fantasy points which helped me take out Noah 103-74.

Who did it for me last week: I never pick a defense until the 2nd to last round, so I usually have to find the diamonds in the rough. The New York Jets came into the season as a possible staunch defense and they proved it earning me 19 points. However with the Patriots facing off against them this week I’m now a little bit nervous.

Who let me down last week: I was excited to get two top five receivers in Andre Johnson and Roddy White, however they combined for only seven points in last week’s beatdown.

How am I feeling this weekend: I’m looking to be the underdog against Wendi this week, however even though I’m going up against Adrian Peterson I hope a bounce back performance from my receiving core and another strong performance from Fred Jackson can help make up ground.

The Couch League

Pho 75 (0-1)

Another close but not close enough game in the league I’m now naming after it’s title, “My Couch Pulls Out But I Don’t.” Really how many games can I lose by four points?

Who did it for me last week: Mike Bell was a waiver wire pick-up and turned out to be a success as my top point earner.

Who let me down last week: The Matt Schaub experiment didn’t get off to a good start, 166 passing yards and an interception will do that for ya.

How am I feeling this weekend: I’m taking a gamble with Brett Favre this week, counting that he can produce against the lowly Lions, and I’m a little bit nervous, he didn’t do too bad last time I had to use him- let’s hope he wont’ disappoint.

The James Bond League

Thunderballz (1-0)

Despite the valiant efforts of my opponent and Drew Brees, I still ended up on top. That’s what she said.

Who did it for me last week: Fred Jackson’s five receptions for 83 yards and a TD along with 57 rushing yards earned me 25 points.

Who let me down last week: I also had Andre Johnson on this team but I was really hoping The Patriots weakness in the secondary could earn some points for Lee Evans- guess not.

How am I feeling this weekend: Playing Craig this week, we both know our teams very well since we podcasted all about our draft. While the matchup looks to be close according to Yahoo, I think I have the edge with my squad- we should trash talk on our next podcast.

The Fantasy Football Librarian League

Beltway Bandits (1-0)

It is tough playing in a 96-team league. While I did walk away with the win, I’m the kind of player that is constantly seeing if there’s a way to improve my team and the waiver wire is absolutely dry.

Wes Welker is a PPR stud

Who did it for me last week: I was a little nervous when I made Wes Welker my #1 WR, but this is a PPR league and his receptions and yardage racked me 21 points this week.

Who let me down last week: No one really let me down but looking at my team, all my non-starters didn’t do very well. I’m already not happy about my depth but hey it’s a 16-team league, nobody has depth.

How am I feeling this weekend: I’m feeling good- I think my WR core will dominate over his, otherwise it looks like a fair matchup.

I’m really excited to watch the Pats today- I’m spending the weekend in Pittsburgh with my friends Mel and Jim and even though I am in the middle of Steelers country, the Pats/Jets game will be shown in this market before the Steelers match. Score!
