My Christmas booty this year:
Brazen Careerist: The New Rules for Success by Penelope Trunk
Ok so this first gift isn’t really a Christmas Gift but when I opened up my mailbox the week of Christmas I was surprised and excited to find an Amazon.com box. Upon opening the box I found the book, which was of one of the top items on my Amazon.com Wish List. I was even more surprised to see that it wasn’t from my family or friends- but from Penelope Trunk herself!
How did she know it was my birthday recently? How did she have my address? How did she know that my book was on my wish list? I quickly remembered that she must of had my address from the last time she wrote me back in November. I also recalled that she do had a December birthday and we discussed our birthdays in some e-mails early in the month. She is so thoughtful for remembering- so on my birthday I got two gifts: one from my parents and one from Penelope Trunk. She already has a leg up above my other friends. Sorry guys but she did get me a book…
Vinet Ege French Absinthe with Wormwood
Diana’s fiancee Mike was nice enough to get me a small collection of trinkets which included a small bottle of Absinthe. It was sold across the street from the theatre he works at but little did he know that Absinthe has been a drink I’ve been fascinated with. I often talked about it with Sarah’s fiancee this summer and when I traveled to Pittsburgh to see Melanie and Jim I drank some at Embury. I’m going to save this one for a special occasion.
Six Pixels of Separation: Everyone Is Connected. Connect Your Business to Everyone. By Mitch Joel & The Associated Press Stylebook 2009
My sisters each gave me a book. Diana got me an autographed copy of Six Pixels of Separation, a book written by a man who, “parlayed a podcast into a thriving career.” Hmm maybe I could be the next Mitch Joel! Kim got me the AP Stylebook, which was on my list because as an aspiring PR flack I wanted to know what the hell AP style is. Now here’s my chance.
Madden 10 for Nintendo Wii
Even though I don’t play a lot of video games, I have a Nintendo Wii and I when I do play video games I enjoy playing the sports I love: Baseball and Football. Getting the latest Madden title from my parents now means I can spent 2010 playing the Wildcat offense.

Old Navy Cord Blazer & Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Lo Tops
2009 has to be the year of the blazer for me. I absolutely love the brown one I got last year so my parents must of thought I needed a grey blazer as well. When combined with a pair of Chuck Taylors, I become an instant hipster:
Not that bad of a haul this year, however I didn’t get what I really wanted: a Netbook. Earlier this year I contemplated getting one and I think having one for on-the-go blogging would be amazing. Luckily one of the last gifts I opened was an envelope with a check towards getting that Netbook. So soon I’ll be a well dressed hipster that you can find at Busboys and Poets blogging on his micro-computer.
I know I’m so cool.
My Dad was thrilled to get a Snuggie from my Mom- and he gave her one too. We didn't know he also got Snuggies for us as well.
Oh and right when I was packing my car to go back to DC my Dad walks up to me and says, “Patrick, do you want a Snookum?”
“A what? Oh, do you mean a Snuggie?”
“Yea I have some for everybody.”
He walks over to a large shopping bag and produces a Snuggie for me to take home. I graciously accepted it and I have since opened it up an worn it a couple of chilly nights here by the laptop. I’m no stranger to the Snuggie, but I didn’t realize how much it really works despite the fact you do look ridiculous.
It’s not like I’m ever wearing this in public. Or outside my room. I can imagine my roommates laughing at me now.
What did you guys get this holiday season?
